Parkinson's Plus Syndromes

Parkinson Plus syndromes are disorders that look like PD, but do not respond to typical treatment. Typically, this conditions originate form a different pathological substrate, with challenges that are unique to each condition. An interdisciplinary approach is the best option to improve the quality of life of patients and caregivers facing these conditions.

Dystonia

As former directors of the most comprehensive dystonia clinic in the southeast, Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Benes can provide assessment throughout the spectrum of the disease, including treatment with botulinum toxin and surgery.

Huntington's Disease

Dr. Rodriguez experience as a Board Member of the Huntington’s study group, and a clinical researcher in HD, provides him with the experience necessary to manage the condition from diagnosis to treatment and research options.

Stimulation

Dr. Rodriguez’s and Dr. Benes’s training in Movement Disorders provided the expertise to not only program typical cases, but also troubleshoot those that are not properly responding after the surgery. Also, we can provide an assessment about surgery candidacy and initiate the referrals to qualified teams.

We have researched the local Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists, among other providers, with expertise in Movement Disorders.

Essential Tremors

Essential tremors is the most common tremor syndrome in the world. Oral medications help improve the severity of the condition. When oral treatment is not sufficient, we assess whether patients might be good candidates for other treatments.

Tardive Dyskinesias

Resulting from intake of psychotropic medications, Tardive Dyskinesia can be a disabling condition with a significant impact to the quality of life of patients. New medications can help minimize the impact of this condition in daily life.
